Indoor Growing 101:

 There are many reasons why you should use LED grow lights for indoor growing. 

What is an LED and how can it be used for indoor growing? An LED or light-emitting diode is a small semiconductor device which emits light, usually colored, when an electric current passes through it. LEDs are energy saving and have a long service life. NASA has been using LED grow lights to grow food in space. 

LED indoor growing lights are:

-Effective /Efficient - you save up to 90% energy compared to HID/HPS indoor growing systems
-They emit very low heat and are safer than other indoor growing systems
-The are soft on your wallet and the environment
-Maximize photosynthetic response
-They ONLY emit the light that your plants use for photosynthesis.

Not all light is created equally...and neither are indoor growing LED lights! At least not as far as plants are concerned. After discussing this matter with a few PHD professors at Cornell University, we were directed to a few studies. Below is an accurate chart of light spectrum usage by plants.

Efficient:

LED lights are super bright and will last for a long time. The life-cycle on LED lights compared to HIDs are dramatically longer.

  • Hydroponic and soil indoor growing has always had problems in heat production.
    Since LED grow lights do not create much heat, you can bypass a fan purchase and not have to worry about any heat-signatures, thus saving MORE money and energy!

  • Thermal output of our LEDs are 90% less than that of a comparable 400Mh or HPS unit.
  • Photosynthesis decreases by 85% between temperatures of 95-98 degrees F
